I think Roberts is a decent no-nonsense defender at this level. He's not the type of CB you want in a team that tries to control the ball and the game though.
I take your point, and I don't necessarily disagree, but I also think that midfield players who can take the ball and be comfortable with it are going to help him (and others) play it short. For some time we've had players in midfield who can't keep the ball and don't really show for it, which I think has made our defenders play it long and of course puts them under more pressure.
I do agree re the midfielders but only Juke and Etheridge have a worse pass completion than Roberts this season.
I don't think that is purely down to ability tbh, maybe he's just so used to lumping it forward that it may take a while for LB to remove that part of his game.
