VLADIMIR Putin offered peace in Ukraine but only if the country agrees to a series of outrageous demands.
A Kremlin spokesman yesterday demanded Kyiv give up its army, change its constitution to become a permanently neutral country and acknowledge Crimea as part of Russia and Luhansk and Donetsk as separate republics.
Dmitry Peskov told Reuters that Russia had told Ukraine it was ready to halt its military action “in a moment” if Kyiv met its conditions.
The outrageous requests are likely to dismissed out of hand, not least because Ukraine’s brave army continue to stall Russian advances.
The northeastern city of Chuhuiv was retaken by Ukrainian forces yesterday after inflicting heavy losses on Russia’s army.
Lieutenant General Serhiy Shaptala said his troops had seized Chuhuiv from Russian control, killing large numbers of Putin‘s men including at least two high ranking commanders.
It comes as the head of Britain’s Armed Forces said a Putin victory in Ukraine is no longer inevitable thanks to heroic Ukrainians.
But he warned the Russian President will “ratchet up the violence” any day.
