Hollyoaks’ Gemma Merna returning to TV in huge role with Michelle Keegan five years after quitting soap to teach yoga
FORMER Hollyoaks star Gemma Meena is set to return to acting in a HUGE role with Michelle Keegan five years after quitting the soap to teach yoga.
The actress, 38, took on the role of Carmel McQueen in the Channel 4 soap in 2006.
After eight years on the hit show, her alter-ego was killed off in a dramatic train explosion.
But back in January the star sent fans into a frenzy when she revealed that she was getting behind the camera again – but failed to mention the show/film.
Sharing a glam mirror selfie with her 120k followers, Gemma said: “Excited to get back filming. Wish me luck. #actress #filming #filmingday #grateful #cantwait.”
Gemma’s friends and fans were quick to congratulate her on her new role.
Her former co-star Kieron Richardson wrote in the comments section: “And you deserve it. #breakaleg.”
Hollyoaks star Bronagh Waugh posted a string of applauding emojis.

Back in October, WGM Atlantic Talent & Literary Group posted a congratulatory tweet about Gemma’s new role.
The Twitter account said: “Congratulations to our wonderful @gemmamerna who has been confirmed for the next series or ‘Brassic’ @skytv .”
Brassic premiered on Sky One in August 2019.
The comedy drama has gone on to have three successful series and is currently filming a fourth.
It stars the likes of Joe Gilgun, Damien Molony, Tom Hanson, Aaron Heffernan and Ryan Sampson.
Following on from her stint in Hollyoaks, Gemma starred in an episode of Doctors in 2017.
She also appeared in a number of reality TV shows such as All Star Family Fortuntes, Splash! and Virtually Famous.
But Gemma soon swapped her showbiz lifestyle to become a yoga teacher.
Her Instagram bio states that she is an accredited mind and wellness coach, yoga teacher, meditation teacher and actress.
The soap star recently launched her latest venture called Mind and Wellness.
