Zenon in the Civic Cloister is the first major boss in Babylon's Fall and can be tough to beat, especially for those attempting to fight him alone.
The Civic Cloister is the first section of the main story in Babylon's Fall, and players will need to defeat Zenon in the last quest to move on to the Thieves' Cloister. Aside from the tutorial, there are three other quests to complete before fighting Zenon. Each quest has chapters where the Sentinels will need to fight waves of enemies to progress, and quests generally end with a mini-boss. After unlocking the "Senate Assembly Hall" quest, players will need to gear up for a difficult fight.
Defeating Zenon can be quite the challenge, especially for players attempting to fight him alone. While it's possible to defeat him solo, it can be extremely time-consuming and difficult, and since it's only the fourth quest in the game, it's likely players won't be very well-equipped for the battle. If players don't want to spend some extra time repeating previous quests for better gear, they can play Babylon's Fall with friends or other Sentinels. This can be done by adding friends and being in the same HQ or using the Quick Match function and trying to get the right quest to appear.
Choosing the right weapons for the fight against Zenon will largely depend on playstyle, but it's helpful to have a good balance of ranged and melee attacks available. Zenon will frequently make crystals appear that sometimes block players from reaching him, so even for players that like to be close to the action, it's recommended to have at least one ranged weapon. Otherwise, there may be times when players can't inflict any damage to Zenon, and this can drastically slow the pace of the fight.
Once this boss fight begins in Babylon's Fall, Zenon will start creating crystals around the arena, stomping Sentinels near his feet, and slashing with his sword. The attacks are fairly easy to avoid because Zenon will yell or speak just before the attack hits. Whenever players hear Zenon make a sound, it means they should get ready to dodge. The sounds are specific to each attack. For example, when Zenon lets out a long, loud cry, it means he's summoning a sword barrier.
The sword barrier attack is the most important one to watch out for, and it's what makes Zenon a somewhat difficult boss to defeat. When the attack begins, players should quickly make their way to the middle of the arena so they can break the structure that spawns. If it isn't destroyed in time, a wave will shoot out causing a massive amount of damage that will likely kill players in a single hit, or at least drain most of their health.
Aside from watching out for the sword barrier to be summoned, the fight against Zenon is pretty straightforward. Players just need to dodge Zenon's attacks and deal as much damage as possible while switching between ranged and melee attacks. A good loadout to have is a sword in the light attack spot, a bow for the heavy attack, and a hammer and rod in the spectral attack slots. This will give players a good balance of attacks while dealing a decent amount of damage quickly.
The first time players fight Zenon, they'll receive extra rewards in Babylon's Fall. Defeating him a second time will be easier using the better gear that was earned, but there will be fewer rewards to claim. However, if players are having trouble advancing in the next section, returning to defeat Zenon is generally quicker than repeating regular quests. Zenon is the first boss to defeat and can be a difficult challenge for new players in Babylon's Fall.
Babylon's Fall is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
