BY royal decree, you are invited to keep up with Katrina and see how far £10 got me this week as I played Fabulous Bingo’s royalty-themed slots and slingos.
Last week, I was in the purple bingo rooms of Sun Bingo, so this week I hopped across to our sister site, Fabulous Bingo, to see how far my budget would get me on their slots.
As it’s the platinum jubilee year, I thought a royal theme was in order.

This is definitely a cool looking game. You’re submerged in a crystal cave, with chunks of crystal acting as one of the game’s symbols.
The indicators on the side shoot rays that fire wilds onto the board. In turn, the crystals on the board will reflect these rays onto other board positions.
It all seemed quite fantastical yet action-packed, with something of a He-Man and She-Ra vibe.

I played four games, each with a 40p stake, but the power of Grayskull wasn’t with me.
I didn’t get the chance to see the Crystal Ray feature in action; it can trigger on any spin and during its activation, the board expands and an additional 25 paylines become active.
Snow Queen lived up to her name. With a background of icy blue and a flurry of snow sprinkled over my game table, I was glad to be warm and inside, and not wherever this snowy scene was set.
There are nine paylines in this game and the minimum stake is 10p. The game has a generous jackpot (between £38,000 and £1.9 million).
Perhaps the chilled air of the setting did get to me, as I only played one game of this slot, a 90p stake that didn’t activate any paylines.

I moved on to see what the other Fab royalty had in store for me at their courts.
After my frosty reception at Snow Queen’s Magic, I decided to warm my bones in a nice desert setting, John Hunter and the Tomb of the Scarab Queen may be a mouthful to say, but it’s a nice, classic slot game to play.
I liked the Egypt-inspired look of the board and Indiana Jones, sorry, John Hunter plays the dashing hero, as his avatar heralds cash prizes of 20p, £1 or £16 if three, four or five such icons appear on the board at once.
What’s more exciting about this game is that it has a weekly tournament with a total cash pot of £62,000 shared amongst the 1500 top-ranked players.
The top prize is £10,000 in cash.
I had hoped that the queens would open the royal purse strings.
However, it wasn’t to be. In the name of gender equality, I played some king-themed games as well.
First port of call, Slingo Reel King. The slingo format is a mixture of slots and bingo where you climb the paytable by creating slingos (completed horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines).
This king is an egg-looking man with white curls. After a couple of games with a 20p stake, three games at a 40p stake and three more at a £1 stake, the egg was on my face for having judged King Humpty Dumpty as I finally had some money in my winnings pot after playing his game.

I could make a pun about the luck of the Irish not being with me in this Emerald Isle inspired game, but I really did use up my best puns with the Slingo Reel King game… no yolk!

While he might be King of Charms, he’s wasn’t a very charming king for me, as my seven games with a 10p stake and one game with a 20p stake didn’t add to my winnings pot.
My final stop on the Kingdoms of Fabulous Bingo tour is King Kong Cash.
I have a lot of respect for this king, the game is set in the midst of the jungle, with gold treasure and banana peels scattered around, but this royal doesn’t let the stresses of ruling get to him.

I played for approximately one hour, which I think was a good way to spend a free hour.
Alternatively, I would have probably just watched TV. By playing Fabulous Bingo’s slots instead, I got the excitement and enjoyment that come from their casino game format, instead of mindlessly watching a rerun.
Even though the style of slots and slingos means that they are over faster than online bingo, that doesn’t mean that you can’t feel the same sense of emotional investment.
