Love Is Blind: Natalie Reveals Shaina’s ‘Inappropriate’ Comment About Shayne
Natalie Lee is clearing up the "inappropriate" conversation she had with Shaina Hurley about her fiancé and fellow Love Is Blind star Shayne Jansen. On the show, Natalie and Shaina told Shayne different versions of a private phone conversation they had when the cameras weren't rolling. Natalie claimed Shaina propositioned her to date one of her friends in the event things didn't work out with Shayne. But Shaina claimed she was only joking and doesn't know why Natalie would take the remark so literally. Now that Natalie has been filled in on the season, she can now see how Shaina was working to cause tension in her relationship.
A lot was revealed during Shaina and Shayne's bonfire moment. Shaina was fresh out of a breakup with Kyle Abrams and was still upset that her number one Shayne decided to propose to Natalie. Meeting Shayne in person for the first time brought up a lot of emotion, and Shaina ended up blowing up on Shayne, telling him his relationship with Natalie was "laughable" and "fake." Over the season, Shayne and Natalie developed a genuine bond that has turned them into fan-favorites.
As the finale drops on Netflix, Natalie is addressing her phone conversation with Shaina and revealing the lies that were told. Natalie recalls speaking to Shaina after the trip to Mexico and being asked about her relationship with Shayne. "She just said, 'If Shayne and you don't work out, I have a friend who's interested. He's a millionaire and I showed him your Instagram profile, so if you're interested, he's available,'" Natalie told ET. At the time, Natalie thought the statement was "weird," but now having watched the first nine episodes, she now realized that Shaina was being "inappropriate." Natalie also said Shayne was "pretty mad" when he learned of Shaina's comment. But seeing the bond Shayne was building with Shaina inside of the pods, Natalie now understands why it bothered her fiancé. "But now I understand why he was irritated by that comment," Natalie added.
She has also been able to see all of the jabs Shaina took at her relationship with Shayne. While Natalie is still confused over Shaina's "intentions," she hasn't spoken to Shaina personally to address it. The ladies all became friendly while dating the men in the pods. Natalie and Shaina were the only two who built a subtle competition over their shared attraction to Shayne. He too was toying back and forth with the two and even mixed Natalie up with Shaina at one point. In the end, Shayne felt a deeper connection with Natalie and decided to propose to her.
Shaina was upset over the decision and decided to accept Kyle's proposal despite having feelings for Shayne. Shaina ultimately broke Kyle's heart and decided to dump him over their religious differences. With Natalie and Shayne set to possibly say their "I Do's" in the finale, Shaina has no choice but to accept defeat. The Love Is Blind star might've seemingly tried to break up Natalie and Shayne. But in the end, her plan backfired.
