ANTONIO CONTE has thrown his Tottenham future into doubt with his comments after Spurs’ defeat to Burnley on Wednesday night.
The Italian hinted he could be ready to leave the club following a fourth defeat in five Premier League matches.
And if he does depart Spurs before or at the end of the season, Manchester United could be ready to snap the former Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan coach up.
Ralf Rangnick is the interim boss at Old Trafford until the end of the campaign.
But he is then set to move into a consultancy role upstairs and help with the recruitment of a new permanent head coach.
If Conte is available, he is sure to be high on their list of targets.
And the arrival of the 52-year-old manager could bring with it a host of new exciting signings.
These would predominantly centre around players he coached to the Serie A title at Inter.
They include centre-backs Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni – who would likely line up in a back three alongside Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.
United are also interested in signing a central midfielder and could find their man in Inter star Marcelo Brozovic.
Ivan Perisic is another player Conte could look to target as a capable left wingback – particularly given the Italian would look to implement a 3-4-3/3-4-1-2 formation at Old Trafford.
And then up front there is the potential to bring Lautaro Martinez to the club.
However, the Argentine has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool or Manchester City.
The other major signing United would look for Conte to help them with would be Spurs talisman Harry Kane.

After a difficult start to the season, the England captain’s form has begun to pick up under their new head coach.
And this was typified by a sensational performance against Manchester City last weekend as Kane scored twice and produced a remarkable all-round display in a 3-2 victory.
Kane tried to engineer a move to Man City last summer but it was ultimately blocked by Spurs chief Daniel Levy.
