According to a details shared by a reliable leaker, the March 2022 lineup of free games for PS Plus will include the likes of Team Sonic Racing. To the surprise of most, the PS Plus offerings for February were not leaked ahead of Sony's official reveal in late January. French website Dealabs has sat at the forefront of these particular rumors for the last several months, prematurely outing the arrival of titles such as Hitman 2, Mortal Kombat X, and even the non-campaign boasting edition of Godfall.
The PS Plus freebies for February proved contentious amongst PlayStation faithful, who felt the addition of EA Sports UFC 4, Planet Coaster: Console Edition, and Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure was laughable at best and frustrating at worst. Regarded as one of the worst lineups in recent memory, this month's games especially fell flat because of the Tiny Tina-centric Borderlands 2 DLC. The hope is that such shortcomings mark a slight downturn in the lead up to PS Plus' rumored Spartacus overhaul, which will reportedly involve a tiered service that throws PS Now into the mix.
French gaming forum Dealabs (via Push Square) has once again outed what could constitute the upcoming PS Plus lineup. According to a reliable leaker on the website, two titles will round out the March 2022 offerings in addition to the previously confirmed Grand Theft Auto Online for PS5 - Ark Survival Evolve and Team Sonic Racing. Since Sony won't share the new additions itself for another few days, PS Plus subscribers should take this information with a grain of salt for the time being.
Should the Dealabs leak prove accurate, and precedent suggests it probably will, the March 2022 offerings stand head and shoulders above the arguably disappointing PS Plus selections in February. Grand Theft Auto Online aside, Team Sonic Racing serves as the standout entry, though, as many may remember, the Sonic-branded kart racer previously headlined the PS Now lineup in June 2021. But this wouldn't count as the first time PS Plus and PS Now have shared titles - PS Plus Collection's Days Gone entered the PS Now catalogue just weeks before Sony's new console hit store shelves.
While the PS Plus freebies have felt like a mixed bag of late, the service offered more than its fair share of heavy-hitters throughout 2021. Last year's January lineup included Maneater and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, for instance. Control: Ultimate Edition headlined the February 2021 selection. And Star Wars: Squadrons led the June 2021 offers. Perhaps this year will prove similarly impressive when all is said and done.
