Antonio Conte has revealed that he may have to rotate his squad despite Tottenham beating Man City 3-2 last time out in the Premier League.
Spurs put in a monumental shift at the Etihad on Saturday, with Harry Kane scoring an injury-time winner after Mahrez had equalised from the penalty spot moments earlier.
However, with great wins and hard effort also comes fatigue and Conte spoke of possible squad rotation in his press conference this afternoon.
The Spurs boss put particular emphasis on midfield, claiming that Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg covered a lot of ground against the reigning champions.
However, with Oliver Skipp out injured (Football London), Harry Winks is the only senior central midfielder in reserve, with Harvey White also spotted on the bench in recent weeks.
Conte added that he will see how the players recover before making a decision on who can start, although he joked that Harry Kane would play even if he only had one leg (Football London).
Conte said (Football London): “We have to continue to work. To work and to know that we need a bit of time and patience. I know and I am seeing that we are improving in many aspects.
“Then have to continue to improve in these aspects. Then to be available because the squad is now more complete than before with Kulusevski and Bentancur.
“I have also the possibility, if all the players are available, to make some rotation to give a bit of rest which the players need, especially the midfielders.
“For example the midfielders against Manchester City, Pierre and Rodrigo, they put in a fantastic performance, they ran a lot and the effort was top.
“We have to see if they recover very well otherwise I will have to make rotation because we have many games in a row in a few days and we have to try in every moment to find the best solution.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I expect to see Joe Rodon get a start against Burnley in place of either Eric Dier or Cristian Romero. I also expect Lucas Moura to replace Dejan Kulusevski, and Harry Winks to replace either Hojbjerg or Bentancur.
