Tom Holland reveals that either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield sports a fake butt in their Spider-Man costume - but won't say which one. With the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home this past December, fans finally got to see the conclusion to Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy. The epic finale evidently lived up to the hype, with the movie currently breaking box-office records and sitting at an MCU-high audience score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
With the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans finally got to experience what had been rumored for months – three generations of Spider-Man stars united on the big screen. With Maguire's last appearance as the Webslinger having been in 2007's Spider-Man 3, it had been almost 15 years since he last donned his iconic superhero suit. Where Maguire remains a fan -favorite, Garfield's two The Amazing Spider-Man movies have a more divisive reputation, with many praising the actor's portrayal of the character but criticizing many of the filmmaking choices, particularly in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
During a new interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers (via Yahoo! Life), Holland explains that one of his Spider-Man co-stars needed a little help filling out the butt of his costume. While he doesn't reveal whether it was Maguire or Garfield who sported the fake butt, he jokes that it was quite convincing while they were all on set together. Check out Holland's full comment below:
I'll give you a spoiler and I'm not going to tell you who but one of us has a fake a*se in their suit. You can figure out that for yourselves. I remember being on set like, 'Wow, [mimes looking at the bottom]... oh, hang on a minute, nah, that's not real.'
Of course, most fans know that padded suits aren't exactly uncommon in the world of superhero movies. Even actors who have packed on pounds of muscle and sculpted their bodies into chiseled works of art usually rely on some form of padding underneath their superhero suits, including Henry Cavill for Man of Steel and Zachary Levi for Shazam! Due to the superhuman nature of the characters and for that added cinematic effect, muscle padding is a completely normal part of wearing a superhero suit, even when it's around the butt area.
While the padding isn't at all unusual when it comes to superhero suits, it is funny to think that either Maguire or Garfield is sporting a fake butt during all of the emotional moments of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Whether it's Maguire or Garfield is anyone's guess, but it's likely that all three actors are wearing some form of padding under their suits in different places. Although the actors are entirely CG during some of the action sequences, or replaced with stunt doubles, some of the quieter moments do feature Holland, Maguire, and Garfield casually talking on the scaffolding around the Statue of Liberty - which will be the best scenes for eagle-eyed fans to spot which actor is rocking a fake butt in their Spider-Man costume.
