If you’re looking to change your Spotify password – or need to reset it – then there’s a very easy way to do so.
The caveat is that you’ll need to be able to get to Spotify’s website through a browser on either your phone or a computer.
Sadly, the Spotify app – whether on an iPhone or an Android device – doesn’t let you change your password.
If you know your current password, then you’ll need to log in first.
Follow these steps:
Go to Spotify’s website by clicking on this link.
Make sure you’re on Spotify’s website and not the Spotify Web Player.
At the top right-hand corner of the screen, click on ‘Profile’ and then select ‘Account’ from the menu.
On the account page, you should see an option on the sidebar on the left which says ‘Change Your Password’.
Click on it, and then you’ll be prompted to enter your current password and add a new one in the ‘New Password’ field. We recommend a strong password, consisting of numbers, letters and symbols.
Finally, at the bottom, click on the ‘Set New Password’.
From now on, you’ll need the new password to log into Spotify on any devices you’ve got it installed on.
If you can’t even remember your Spotify password to begin with, then you’re going to need to reset it.
Thankfully, this is an extremely simple process.
All you need to do is head over to Spotify’s website here and follow these steps:
Click the ‘Log In’ button as if you were going to sign into your account.
Click on the ‘Forgot Your Password’ link that’s right below the Password field.
You’ll be taken to a password reset screen, you’ll need to fill in either your Spotify username or the email address associated with your account.
Tick the captcha box to confirm you’re not a robot and then hit the ‘Send’ button.
Once you’ve done that, head over to your email inbox as Spotify will have sent you an email containing a password link.
The link takes you to Spotify’s password reset page, where you can enter a new password in the two fields and then click ‘Send’.
Again, we’d always advise you to choose a strong password containing letters, numbers and symbols to make it hard for anyone else to guess it.
You can also employ a password manager if you’re fed up of having to remember too many different passwords.
If you’ve had enough of Spotify altogether and want to cancel your plan, you can do it pretty easily.
All you need to do is log in to Spotify.com/account and you’ll see all of your account information. Scroll down the ‘Overview’ page and you’ll find a section called ‘Your plan’ detailing how much you pay.
From there, simply click on ‘Change Plan’ and select ‘Cancel Premium’.
