Youngs back on acquisition trail as focus turns to containers market

Purfleet-based Youngs Transportation and Logistics has acquired the transport division of Southampton-based container business Eldapoint.

Youngs move into the full container load (FCL) market will increase its presence in Southampton and London Gateway by a further 40% and comes amid increasing demand, the company said.

It follows the acquisition of Warrington-based groupage and LCL operator North West Cargo in December 2020.

All Eldapoint operations teams, drivers and trucks will move across to Youngs from 1 March but Eldapoint will continue with all its other national business.

“We would like to give a warm welcome to all the Eldapoint staff and customers into Youngs Transportation and Logistics Group,” said Youngs MD Paul Pavitt.

“The acquisition was driven by existing customer requests of further support to their business. They spoke, we listened, and we strategically identified Eldapoint who have a tremendous name in the marketplace due to service levels, a good management team and excellent drivers. It was an easy deal, thanks largely to the Eldapoint directors to whom I am very grateful."
