How Kody Brown's Marriage Changed When Christine Asserted Herself
In the latest Tell-All episode, Christine Brown of Sister Wives reveals that her marriage to Kody began to change when she realized she could say "no" to her husband of 25 years. Christine and Kody's relationship has been struggling for decades, with the latest season showing its demise. The couple dealt with jealousy within their marriage, especially after Kody decided to court Robyn as his fourth wife. Christine was always under the impression she was going to be the last spouse, but Kody wanted more.
This stress put a lot of pressure on their union, with Christine deciding to leave in November 2021. Christine has been living her best life back in Utah, surrounded by family and away from Kody. The two have not really spoken since, with the children even taking Christine's side. Now, Christine has offered more insight into where things went wrong.
TLC viewers watched on Sunday as Christine opened up about her toxic marriage to Kody. According to the third wife, her relationship with Kody drastically changed when she started to stand up for herself. Since the show started airing, Sister Wives viewers have watched each wife say yes to Kody, but the dynamic changed when Christine, in particular, started saying no. Christine revealed she was always expected to be positive, saying whatever Kody needed to hear. Christine went on to say she didn't mind being the hype wife until "it wasn't. All of a sudden, I just realized I couldn't anymore."
The TLC personality went on to explain that the turning point for her was when her father asked if she ever said no to Kody. Naturally, Kody didn't like the new, outspoken Christine. Sadly, Kody started to withdraw from the marriage, which then forced Christine to shut down. For his part, Kody did talk about his time in therapy with Christine but ended up getting frustrated and told the host he didn't want to talk about his failed marriage anymore.
With Sister Wives season 16 now over, viewers can't help but wonder what season 17 will bring if the show is renewed. Robyn seems to be the only happy wife in a relationship with Kody. Janelle and Meri both mentioned they would have to do some soul searching before deciding to move on. As for Christine, she made the best decision she could for herself while also learning a valuable lesson: no is a full sentence. Hopefully, her former sister wives take note and cause further change in the Brown family dynamic.
