Rio Ferdinand thinks rumoured Spurs target ‘must be asking for crazy money’
Rio Ferdinand believes that rumoured Tottenham target Antonio Rudiger must be making huge salary demands to Chelsea.
Rudiger’s current deal at Stamford Bridge runs out in the summer and Thomas Tuchel’s men have so far been unwilling to meet the German’s demands regarding a new contract (Marca).
It was previously reported that Tottenham were in contact with the former Roma man’s representatives and the North Londoners were trying to strike an agreement ahead of a free transfer at the end of the season (Football Insider).
Transfer expert Dean Jones told The Football Terrace last month that Spurs made “a very good offer” to the Chelsea man but he does not expect Antonio Conte’s men to beat the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain to the defender’s signature.
Ferdinand believes that Rudiger wants to make the most out of his free-agent situation and get a big signing-on fee this summer, even if he stays at Chelsea.
The former Man Utd defender said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel: “He (Rudiger) must be asking for crazy money. He’s going for a free, so he can ask for 10, 15, 20 million upfront and massive wages as well.
“He must be thinking ‘if you’re going to replace me, you might have to buy Kounde from Seville, give me 10, 15 or 20 million and big wages and you’re still better off than buying Kounde maybe.’
“I don’t know, Chelsea might say that they can’t be doing that.”

I do not think there is even a 1 per cent chance of Spurs getting Rudiger. Even putting his Chelsea connections aside, there is no reason why he would reject some of the biggest clubs in Europe in favour of a move to North London, particularly since it looks like we might not even have Champions League football to offer.
