I left my long-distance boyfriend stranded at a restaurant because he did a super rude thing – am I wrong?

HAVING to hide from embarrassment is one sure reason to end a relationship.

That’s what happened to this woman who was forced to run away from her partner when he did the rudest thing possible at a restaurant.

She said he brought along a bell to ring at waitstaff[/caption]

The woman, who shared her story on Reddit, explained that she had been dating her boyfriend for about four months, and claimed he’s an American living in her unnamed country, but lives out of town.

The two decided to meet up at a diner in his town, and when they were ready to order, her boyfriend took out a small bell from his jacket and began ringing it.

The woman said she immediately became confused and asked what he was doing, to which he replied that he was getting the waitstaff’s attention.

She then told her boyfriend to stop ringing the bell and embarrassing her, but he just kept doing it.

 “I cannot begin to explain the looks we received from everyone,” she wrote.

The woman then threatened to cancel dinner and demanded he stop, but her boyfriend kept ringing his bell until someone came over.

At that point, the woman was fed up, so she grabbed her things and left the diner.

The two then had a huge fight as the woman was clearly mortified while her boyfriend couldn’t understand what was so embarrassing about the bell.

She claimed he said: “It was a perfect solution [to] no longer be forced to wait till someone shows up.”

The woman asked if bringing a bell to dinner was acceptable in America to which he replied: “Yes because it’s a free country and people there usually don’t give a s***.”

He didn’t let up on the woman and said she “overreacted,” was being “sensitive,” and told her to “get off [her] high horse and stop calling his ‘genius’ idea embarrassing.”

The woman ended her post by writing: “He’s been sulking for days now and wanting an apology, maybe I overreacted.

“Maybe it’s nothing where he lives but here it’s just unacceptable.”

Most of the comments, if not all of them, were on the woman’s side, though.

One user wrote: “Just no. I would have walked out of there too and broken up with him on the spot. He is treating the staff like animals. Completely inappropriate and I wouldn’t be caught out with that man in public again.”

Another commented: “I worked at a restaurant for years and if someone ever came into my work and brought a bell I would kick them out and refuse service. This man is gaslighting you. You should leave him seriously.”

Americans also came to the defense of the woman, like one Redditor who added: “Fellow American here. We are incredibly f***** up and backward in many ways, but this behavior would not be tolerated.”

Additionally, “American here who worked in restaurants for over 10 years. People do not do this. And a few of the places I worked at would 100% kick a person out doing this because wtf. So rude. He’s lying to your face.”

Similarly, another woman was mortified with how her date was tipping their waitress during dinner.

Meanwhile, one woman got the best revenge on her rude date by asking out his sister right in front of him.
