Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Features Unique Jobs
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will feature new jobs that have been seen in the Final Fantasy series before, alongside the familiar ones that fans are expecting to see. Stranger of Paradise is an action RPG, but it has an extensive job and skill system, with the player's current loadout drastically changing their character's abilities in combat.
In Stranger of Paradise, the player has the ability to equip two jobs at once, which can be switched mid-battle with the press of a button. This means the player can enter melee combat using a job like the Swordsman, before pulling back and switching to the Mage to unleash spells on the enemy. The player can also copy certain enemy abilities during combat and return them back to their sender, giving them lots of different options in combat. This is on top of the individual skills that are learned by each job, as well as the different weapons that each job can use in battle. Stranger of Paradise has more jobs than FF5, so players will have lots of choices that will complement their preferred playstyle.
Stranger of Paradise is due to launch on March 18 and the developers have revealed some of the jobs in the game in a post on the official PlayStation Blog. It was revealed that Stranger of Paradise will feature brand new jobs that have never appeared in the Final Fantasy series before, including the Breaker, the Void Knight, and the Tyrant. It was also confirmed that some of the recurring jobs from the Final Fantasy series will return in Stranger of Paradise, including the Dark Knight, Ninja, Paladin, Sage, and Thief.
The names of these brand new classes were revealed in the Stranger of Paradise leaked achievement list, but Square Enix has now detailed their abilities. The Breaker is a melee class that has one familiar Final Fantasy element, as it lets Jack summon the Zantetsuken sword used by Odin in the other entries in the series. It's possible for Jack to be able to OHKO foes using the Breaker's special ability, but it's not guaranteed to work. The Void Knight has the ability to absorb enemy magic spells, which can either be converted to MP or fired back at their user. The Tyrant has the ability to imbue their weapon with elemental magic, in order to strike enemy weak points.
Stranger of Paradise isn't the only recent Final Fantasy game to go against the grain and add a new job, as FFXIV added the Reaper job to the series. The classic Final Fantasy jobs are beloved by fans around the world and the series wouldn't be quite the same without its Black Mages and Dragoons, but the new combat system in Stranger of Paradise has opened the door for new jobs to appear, all of which can be unleashed upon Chaos.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 18, 2022.
