The Brescia women's indoor track & field team competed on Febrary 12th at the Depauw Indoor Invitational, placing third.
In the 60m hurdle finals, Jordyn Cardwell (FR/Union, KY) placed sixth in a time of 10.11 seconds. In the prelims, she ran a new school record of 9.95 seconds.
Abigail Burgett (SO/Dawson Springs, KY) placed advanced to the finals of the 60m dash, placing sixth in a time of 8.43 seconds. In the prelims, she ran 8.41 seconds.
Burgett also competed in the 200m dash, placing fifth overall with a time of 28.36 seconds. She won her heat in the event.
In the 400m dash, Lexi Nicholas (SR/Hawesville, KY) placed sixth with a new school record of 1:05.67.
Nicholas also led the Bearcats in the 800m, finishing the event in 2:38.13. McKenzie Severs also ran the 800m, finishing in 3:07.80.
Breanna Alderton (JR/Owensboro, KY) won the 1,000m with a new school record of 3:04.87. Abagale Huelsman (JR/Fort Branch, IN) also competed in the 1k, placing fifth with a time of 3:28.17.
Alderton also won the mile, earning an NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Qualifying Standard of 5:07.66 in the event. Huelsman also competed in the mile, running 5:59.11.
In the 3000m, Carmela Shorkey (FR/Macomb, MI) finished the event in 11:51.40. She placed fourth in the event.
The 4x400m relay team of Breanna Alderton, Abigail Burgett, Abagale Huelsman, and Lexi Nicholas placed third with a new school record of 4:21.00.
In long jump, Jordyn Cardwell won with a jump of 5.22m. Abigail Burgett and Carmela Shorkey also qualified for finals, jumping 4.60m and 4.42m, respectively.
Mallory Toler (SR/Rockport, IN) and Alayna Petri (SO/Owensboro, KY) also competed in long jump, jumping 4.23 and 3.96m, respectively.
Cardwell placed second in triple jump, jumping 10.85m. Petri placed seventh with a jump of 8.76m.
Ashby Greenwell (FR/Henderson, KY) placed sixth in shot put, throwing 11.17m. Petri also competed in shot put, throwing 7.94m.
Greenwell also competed in weight throw, placing 11th with a throw of 11.54m.
The Bearcats will be back in action on February 19th at the River States Conference Championship.
