Fans love watching Celebrity Big Brother because it's not only a fun social experiment to see people from all walks of life reside in a house together, cut off from the real world, fans also get to learn more about celebrities from every facet of the entertainment industry.
The third season of Celebrity Big Brother is no exception, with an eclectic mix of actors, musicians, athletes, and reality TV personalities. And like with every season, there have been a few exciting and unexpected friendships between celebrities who might not have otherwise ever crossed paths in the real world.
Miesha comes from the athletic world of MMA while Todrick is a social media personality, influencer, and actor. Yet the pair gel so well together that they easily rank among the most unexpected friendships on Big Brother. They instantly had mutual respect for one another, often chatting like old friends.
Todrick even mentioned that he had a bit of a crush on Miesha, telling her she is the only woman he has ever been attracted to. It's likely her fierce spirit and talented gameplay that he loves the most, which happens to be qualities they both share.
Host Julie Chen recognized Mirai's close friendship with Chris Kattan during her exit interview, noting how odd of a pairing it was. She questioned if the pair might even remain friends outside of the house.
Mirai was open about having a tough time in the house, not being able to relate to anyone else given that she is much younger than the other players. Chris was always there to console her, and even offered himself up for eviction when he was sitting beside her on the block in hopes she could stay and play. It is a sweet father-daughter-type friendship between the Olympic figure skater and comedian and actor. If Chris comes out of his comedic shell on the show, he could rank among the most entertaining houseguests on Celebrity Big Brother.
Fans might have expected - given Teddi's history on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - that the claws might have been out on the show. But she was sweet and got along with everyone, with the exception of Miesha.
Arguably most surprising, however, was Teddi's close relationship with Shanna, who even cried when she had to evict her. Teddi and Shanna found common ground with one another and developed a friendship that could extend outside of the house. Both understand the challenges of being on reality TV, and while they come from different worlds, they got along swimmingly.
The instant Miesha Tate entered the house, Chris Kirkpatrick, who surprisingly has among the least Instagram followers among the Celebrity Big Brother houseguests, said he was "fangirling." He knew exactly who she was and loved watching her fight. He gravitated to her immediately, and she seemed to enjoy his company as well.
They spent much time strategizing and forming an alliance in the gym together as they both worked out. While the relationship seemed to fracture once Miesha began to push her ideas on Chris when he was HoH, the initial friendship and closeness between the two was a surprise to viewers.
Fans might have expected Teddi and Carson to get along since they both came from reality TV and shows that focus on wealth, fashion, and pop culture. But even others in the house were surprised at just how close they became after just a short time.
At one point, Teddi's name was brought up as someone to evict simply because she was so close with Carson and the house wanted to weaken his game once they realized he was a competition threat. When she was in the house, the two spent plenty of time together chatting, snacking, and strategizing.
Carson and Todrick had worked together before so they knew one another prior to entering the house. Todrick, one of the celebrities who was rumored to be on Celebrity Big Brother early on, also joked to Carson that he thought he would be the only gay man on the season. So, the pair teaming up wasn't surprising in some ways.
While Todrick has seemingly come to the realization that Carson is also his biggest threat both in competitions and social game, the pair still get along really well. This is despite their age difference, which further surprised everyone that they became like two peas in a pod.
Realizing she was in the wrong alliance, Shanna made a smart move and offered herself up as a spy for the other side of the house. Ever since this leap of faith, Chris Kirkpatrick seemed to have warmed to Shanna and the two became close.
While much of their strategizing is done in secret, a trick Chris likely learned from being a superfan of the show, they look to have a lot in common. They are both parents, were both coming up in the industry around the same time in the '90s and have both dealt with the challenges of fame.
Fans might have expected that these two would bond given the fact that both are athletes and understand the nature of being in competitive sports. It might also be that Lamar was one of the other houseguests closest in age to Mirai.
But they bonded on a level beyond sports, including having an important and eye-opening discussion about racism and what it was like for both of them growing up, as well as in society today. It was one of the deeper conversations on the show thus far.
