Euphoria Season 2 Episode 6 Trailer: Maddy Plans Revenge Against Cassie
Maddy plots revenge against Cassie and Nate in the trailer for Euphoria season 2, episode 6. Alexa Demie was introduced as Maddy Perez, the on-and-off-again girlfriend of the abusive Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), during season 1 of HBO's relentlessly explicit teen drama from the mind of Sam Levinson. Other than Rue (Zendaya) returning home from rehab and struggling to stay sober, Nate and Maddy's destructive relationship was one of the first season's most prominent plot lines.
Two love triangles have been a major focus since Euphoria returned to HBO last month for a second season. During the season premiere, Nate begins a secret fling with Maddy's best friend, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), at the New Year's Eve party. There, Rue meets Elliot, and the two experience an instant connection. Rue's girlfriend Jules secretly grows closer to Elliot in the following episodes. During episode 5, the duo informs Rue's mother of her ongoing drug use, and in a fit of rage, Rue seemingly severs ties with Jules and Elliot. Later on, as Rue is on the run and suffering from the effects of withdrawal, she spills Cassie and Nate's big secret in front of everyone at the Howard household, including Maddy.
Now, the promo for Euphoria season 2, episode 6, is here, previewing the events of the next chapter of the critically-acclaimed HBO series. Next week's episode is set to pick up in the fallout of Rue's explosive actions. In the trailer, Maddy is plotting revenge against her best friend for sleeping with her ex, saying she might "actually want to murder" Cassie, while she has "a few ideas" for Nate. Season 2, Episode 5, was one of Euphoria's most emotional and visceral episodes yet. After Rue's mother tries to stage an intervention and take her daughter back to rehab, Rue suffers a breakdown and decides to run from her family and eventually the police in a nail-biting chase across town as Rue attempts to seek refugee with numerous friends, Fez and Laurie, trying to get her next fix. Bolstered by a tour de force performance by Zendya, the episode was a heart-wrenching reminder of the debilitating reality of drug addiction.
Though Rue seemingly returned home at the end of the episode, it's unclear if she will be returning to rehab this season. Based on the trailer, Maddy's next steps are a little more clear, as she appears clutching the stolen Cal and Jules sex tape, which she will likely use to blackmail Nate. While the trailer features multiple shots of a gun, it's unlikely Maddy has murderous intentions against Cassie, though the situation is likely to get violent. Sweeney recently let slip that Demie accidentally broke her toe while filming a dramatic scene. Audiences will find out how Maddy enacts her revenge against Cassie and Nate in the next episode of Euphoria.
