Piers Morgan pays tribute to ‘magnificent rock’ Queen as her majesty marks 70 years on the throne
PIERS Morgan has paid a glowing tribute to the Queen as she marks 70 years on the throne.
Broadcaster Piers, 56, hailed Her Majesty, 95, as the “greatest of all time” and praised her leadership on her Platinum Jubilee.
He wrote on Instagram: “The . Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II on becoming the first British Monarch to reign for 70 years.
“What a magnificent rock of wise, calm, strong & empathetic leadership she has been for this country through good times and bad.
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
The Monarch was just 25 when she began her reign after the death of her father, King George VI.
She is now the longest-reigning and longest-living monarch in our nation’s history.
Yesterday the Queen wore a stunning powder blue Angela Kelly dress adorned with a white flower pattern as she met with members of the Women’s Institute and local Norfolk charities.

She appeared in good spirits and joked with guests while cutting into a cake specially prepared by a Sandringham local in celebration of the milestone.
When told the cake was turned upside down for the benefit of photographers, she joked: “I don’t matter?”
The Queen also left her guests laughing as she told them “I’ll put the knife in, see if it works” before adding: “Somebody else can finish it off”.
While today is officially the 70th anniversary of her reign, Her Majesty will celebrate the milestone in June.
This is because she ascended the throne on the same day her father died, and is choosing to honour his memory rather than celebrate her own achievement.
It is said Buckingham Palace and the government thought it would also be better to hold the Jubilee celebrations until June, when it is warmer.
This also means that the extra bank holiday can be easily added to make a four-day extravaganza.
On Thursday June 2, the first day of the bank holiday, more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will come together in the traditional Trooping the Colour Parade to mark The Queen’s official birthday, usually held on the second Saturday in June.
On Friday, June 3, a service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral.
