Dakota Johnson Seemingly Confirms 'Madame Web' Casting News with Cryptic Instagram Post
Dakota Johnson has seemingly confirmed that she’s going to star in the upcoming superhero movie Madame Web!
The 32-year-old actress will portray the Marvel character in a new movie for Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man universe.
Dakota took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday (February 5) and put up a cryptic post that basically confirmed the rumored news is true.

The post simply included a spider web emoji, which is enough for fans to understand that she’s referencing the Madame Web stories.
According to THR, Madame Web is a “clairvoyant mutant who specializes in predicting the future of Spider-themed superheroes, having mentored not only Peter Parker’s alter ego, but also multiple generations of heroes calling themselves Spider-Woman. Traditionally depicted as a blind, paralyzed old woman, she is surrounded by a web-like machine necessary to keep her alive, meaning that she stays away from direct conflict, favoring the option to send others to do the physical stuff on her behalf.”
Madame Web first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210, which was published in November 1980. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the writers behind Spider-Man spinoff Morbius are also behind Madame Web.
