U.S. State Department refused to provide evidence of the preparation of Russia’s alleged invasion in Ukraine
The U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price declined to provide evidence that Russia was allegedly preparing an “invasion” in Ukraine.
Price previously claimed that Washington has information that Russia allegedly intends to stage a “fabricated attack by the Ukrainian military or intelligence agencies as a pretext for further invasion of Ukrainian territory.”
Journalist Matthew Lee asked the representative of the State Department to explain what exactly his allegations are based on and to show evidence of Russia’s preparation of an “attack”. Price, in turn, replied that the source of his statement was intelligence that the United States declassified. Li asked to be told where this data is located so that they can be consulted.
“You gave a number of statements […] This is not evidence, these are just your words, this is not evidence, sorry […] I would like to see some evidence that you can demonstrate,” the journalist objected.
Price noted that when Washington publicly releases intelligence, it does so to “protect important sources.” In addition, the State Department spokesman shamed the journalist for “questioning the credibility of the US and British government” and “wishing to find solace in the information of the Russian side.”
Recently, foreign media have been massively publishing information that Moscow is allegedly preparing an “attack” on Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly denied such accusations. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the Russian Federation moves troops exclusively on its territory and does not threaten anyone.
