Q&A: Bubba Wallace explains how the ‘pizzazz’ of his personality shines in new apparel collection
A project about 18 months in the making, Bubba Wallace has now officially entered the fashion world. The NASCAR driver helped design an apparel collection with one of his partners, Columbia — the company’s first signature collection for a sponsored athlete.
In grand, tiny and obvious ways, the collection has Wallace’s personality written all over it.
The 28-year-old driver of the No. 23 23XI Racing Toyota has been working with Columbia’s product team mostly virtually to design the collection — from selecting color palettes and fabrics to making sure items fit the way he wanted — which includes a jacket, shoes and a variety of other athleisure wear. Subtly, Wallace’s personal logo is featured throughout the collection as well.
Wallace’s work designing the line culminated in a trip to the company’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon, which opened the door for him to propose to his now-fiancee, Amanda Carter, under a spectacular waterfall.
Ahead of the Bubba Wallace Collection dropping on Feb. 2, For The Win spoke with the NASCAR driver about how he incorporated his own fashion style into the design of his line.
