The wreck happened Tuesday night on International Boulevard.
A 26-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were killed in a head-on collision Tuesday night in East Oakland, police said.
A 16-year-old boy also was injured.
The collision that injured the three Oakland residents happened around 9:36 p.m. in the 7800 block of International Boulevard. Police said a Ford Fusion driven by the 26-year-old was speeding eastbound on International Boulevard in the designated bus lane, when it crossed over into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Nissan that was going west.
The 17-year-old boy was a passenger in the Nissan and was pronounced dead at the scene along with the 26-year-old, police said. The 16-year-old was driving the Nissan, police said.
The teen briefly fled the scene after the crash, but police caught up to him and detained him. Police said he was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries, including a broken wrist.
Police said it’s unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs are a factor.
