Taliban meet representatives of eight countries including US in Oslo
Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said that the Afghan delegation led by the acting FM Amir Khan Motaqi met with representatives of the US, UK, Norway, Italy, Germany, France, Qatar, and EU on the second day of talks in the Norwegian capital Oslo.
Spokesperson of the Ministry Abdul Qahar Balkhi in a Twitter post said that the negotiations were concentrated on the economy, humanitarian aids, security, activation of Afghanistan’s central bank, health, and other relevant issues.
Meanwhile, BBC has reported that the IEA’s delegation has mentioned the release of Afghanistan’s funds now frozen in the western banks.
The meeting is one of the most important meetings as the Taliban meet representatives of western countries in a European country.
A day prior to that, the Taliban met with members of the civil society of Afghanistan including women and discussed the ongoing situation in Afghanistan.
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai in a statement welcomed the intra-Afghan meeting.
