Report: Tottenham insert sell-on clause in six-figure January sale
Tottenham are said to have included a sell-on clause in Dilan Markanday’s contract following his transfer to Blackburn Rovers, according to Football.London.
The Championship side confirmed the signing of Markanday, 20, on a three-and-a-half-year contract on Tuesday with the option to extend for another year.
Reports suggest Blackburn have paid £500,000 for the Tottenham academy graduate, with future add-ons potentially taking the total fee to around £1 million.
However, that isn’t the end of Tottenham’s involvement in Markanday going forward, with Football.London claiming a clause has been inserted into his contract that could net them more cash if he is sold again.
Markanday made just one first-team appearance for Spurs, making his debut in the Europa Conference League defeat to Vitesse Arnhem in October.
He flourished for the club’s Under-23 side, though, notching 12 goals and five assists in just 14 Premier League 2 appearances.

Plenty of people were wondering whether this would’ve been Spurs’ last involvement with Markanday, but it apparently isn’t. If Markanday performs well for Blackburn, he could draw in a bigger fee that could net the club an extra bit of cash going forward, which is a positive.
