The characters from The Office US are all different, with various quirks and personas. But Dwight's odd ways make for some ridiculous quotes.
The Office US is a brilliantly hilarious mockumentary, following the lives of employees at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. From love to office feuds, there's no topic the show doesn't cover, making the audience feel connected to the lives of these characters.
Having said that, Dwight is somewhat difficult to get on board with, as his strange way of living is pretty unique and certainly a lot different from his colleagues. His way-out antics and unusual ways of thinking are, however, an asset to the script, producing some of the most ridiculous quotes.
After giving a PowerPoint presentation to his colleagues at Dunder Mifflin on fire safety, Dwight decides it's not enough. He, therefore, chooses to simulate a fire happening in the office. He sets off smoke bombs and heats up door handles, sending the rest of his workmates into complete panic mode as they try to escape from what they believe to be a real fire.
Dwight's actions are completely unnecessary and actually dangerous, as Stanley found out through a heart attack. His quote sums up just how ridiculous his actions are, as he tried to increase people's safety in the long run, by actually putting them at risk in the moment.
As part of his investigation into why Oscar was off from work, Dwight made one of his funniest phone calls in The Office US. He phoned Oscar to find out how he was, but there was no reply. A few minutes later he phoned again and Oscar picked up, explaining he had been to the pharmacy.
Dwight's response is completely ridiculous because someone can legitimately be too ill to go to work, but manage to get themselves to the pharmacy to collect the medicine that will make them better and in turn, get them back to work quicker. However, because he loves catching people out, Dwight sees it as evidence that Oscar is lying.
Jim's pranks on Dwight are a highlight of the show and an ongoing gag. When a bat is trapped inside the office, Jim pretends that he got bit by it, escalating his lie into a fully-fledged story of turning into a vampire before Dwight's very eyes.
Dwight buys into the fake narrative and explains to the camera how he once shot a werewolf, which turned back into his neighbor's dog. Of course, all he actually did was shoot his neighbor's dog, but Dwight's eccentric mind allows him to believe that the dog was actually a figure from folklore. Even when the logical, sane answer is clear to see, Dwight will usually choose the most ridiculous reasoning.
After learning that a family-run business is looking for new paper suppliers, Dwight reminisces about how he and Jim would join forces to win accounts. Each time they would go out to the business meetings, they pretended to be brothers as a link to the company. Unfortunately for Dwight, Jim is working in Philadelphia but Dwight asks him to come back and work with him on this task.
Jim declines but Dwight still persists as he gives Jim a totally unfeasible and unsafe speed at which he could travel to get back in time. When Dwight wants something to happen, he'll give utterly inappropriate solutions of how it can be done, in line with his ridiculous logic.
When the sales team is paired up to go out to work, Jim and Dwight often end up together. You would think getting in the car to be the simplest part of the day, but not for Dwight. He always has to think of some edgy way to do the most common of activities.
Jim is the designated driver and Dwight climbs into the back, giving the absurd reason that supposedly it's the safest seat. There's absolutely no scientific evidence to prove this, but he relishes inventing his own ideas. Dwight can often be the smartest person in the room but he really does come out with some ridiculous comments, with no proof to back them up.
Appearance isn't something Dwight thinks carefully about nor is interested in. So it came as a shock to him when Charles imposed new rules about dress codes. Wearing a smart, white, long sleeve shirt became highly uncomfortable for Dwight, even though Phyllis comments that he looks lovely.
Not only does he complain about his blood circulation, but he also takes things to the extreme once again, by claiming that he is now not attack-ready. What he has to be attack-ready for, no one really knows and it's certainly not a requirement for his job. But Dwight tries to use his ridiculous excuse as a way of not having to adhere to the dress code.
Dunder Mifflin has a Ben Franklin impersonator come to visit the office, which is a perfect opportunity for Jim to tell Dwight an outlandish lie, convincing him that he is the real Franklin. The actor marches around in a less than impressive costume with an obvious wig, but that's still not enough for Dwight to know it's not the real Benjamin Franklin.
He even decides to quiz the pretend historical figure on his life, to which he is met with a stream of correct answers. Infuriated, Dwight tells the camera that he is almost sure it's not the real one. For all the truths that Dwight won't believe, it's pretty baffling to know of the things he's uncertain of and how gullible he can be.
Michael reveals that Pam and Ryan are to join the sales team, which the existing sales staff aren't happy with. So, Dwight takes it upon himself to dramatize the situation and get everyone to meet. However, he also decides to pass on the message using invisible ink.
There was absolutely no reason he couldn't just call a meeting using verbal communication, but that would be far too regular for Dwight. Trying to disguise the meeting as some sort of secret mission is pretty odd. And just when you thought it couldn't more ridiculous? He claims the invisible ink is urine.
The office at Dunder Mifflin is a close-knit community and little can go under the radar before someone susses it. Pam and Jim found exactly that, as they printed a map to give them directions to the place they wished to get married. Erin found the map in the printer and handed it to Dwight.
Yet again, he took it upon himself to take the situation way too seriously and find out who it's for, by asking his colleagues. When everyone remained silent, he immediately jumped to a ridiculous conclusion that they must all be guilty. It obviously didn't enter his head that maybe they're all keeping quiet because no one knew what he was talking about.
Poor Stanley isn't the most active of people, so when he finds that the elevator at work is out of order, he struggles to climb the stairs to get to his desk. Upon arrival, he complains to Dwight (as he owns the building) and Dwight quickly tells him he's got to go back down the stairs to go out to work with him.
Stanley point-blank refuses and as if a boss or in some sort of military environment, Dwight barks "That's an order." Dwight is in no position to give out demands and Stanley knows his ridiculous outburst has no power. Dwight's nature is to always take charge, even when he simply isn't the man for the job.
