The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced their honorees for basketball following the past week of action and Doane's Josiah Gardiner (SO/Milford, Neb.) has been named the conference player of the week for his performances against Dordt and Morningside.
In the Tigers' midweek 82-80 victory over Dordt, Gardiner posted 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting while adding nine rebounds and one blocked shot. Against Morningside, Gardiner hit the game-winning shot as time expired in overtime to lift Doane to a 72-71 win. He finished the game with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor, pulled in six rebounds, and blocked two shots.
For the week, Gardiner averaged 25 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocked shots per game. He shot 59-percent from the floor in the Tigers' two upset victories.
This is the first GPAC Player of the Week honor for Gardiner, and the first in the program since 2016 when fellow big-man Nate Kuhl was honored.
