Amadeus 101
Mezzo-soprano Deborah Rosengaus is set to give a lecture on all things Mozart Jan. 20 at the Saratoga Foothill Club, 20399 Park Place. Rosengaus will look at how the composer’s life shaped his works, as well as his classical music legacy.
The event, part of the club’s lecture series, is set for 7:30-9 p.m. Tickets are $15 at Eventbrite.com.
Creative cards
The Santa Clara County Library District has released three new library card designs to inspire patrons to “Create, Dream, and Discover” at county branch libraries. The cards feature a lightbulb, a cloud or a magnifying glass on the front where patrons can draw or write to personalize their card.
The new cards are intended to draw attention to branch library programs that allow patrons to create mindfulness and memories as well as arts and crafts; help people achieve their dreams through job search and career assistance and free online tutoring and homework help; and let them discover their family histories, along with media like newspapers, movies and free streaming music.
“Public libraries are one of society’s most important resources, and a free library card unlocks those materials and services,” said Mike Wasserman, president of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and chair of the Library Joint Powers Authority Board.
Patrons with library cards in good standing can use the new online library card renewal system at sccld.org/cardrenewal to keep their account current for up to three years. There is also an online eCard registration system at https://sccld.org/card-application for patrons who just want to access the online materials and resources.
