For Christians, Advent is a hopeful season as it anticipates the birth of Jesus the Savior on Christmas Day. Two wondrous signs preceded the original miracle — John the Baptist began baptizing Judeans in the River Jordan to cleanse them for the imminent Messiah. (“One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.”) And the Star of Bethlehem appeared in the Eastern sky to guide the three Magi to a certain manger in Israel. These events indicated a great light about to pierce the metaphoric darkness. Secularly speaking, America has been in a dark state for more than a year, intentionally sunk by unwise, fanatical little people who politically crucified a great leader and tried to erase his legacy. But there are signs this Advent that even after his political demise, the man will save the country from progressive evil via the courts (with a little help from the previous Republican President).
Just last week, four major federal court decisions crippled the Democrats’ tyrannical vaccine mandate mania. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday injuncted a San Diego Unified School District order that all students over age 16 get vaccinated for COVID-19 or be relegated to virtual classes. Counsel for the invaluable Thomas More Society, representing a high school “Jane Doe,” sued the SDUSD on religious grounds, that literal cross to leftist vampires. “Although the case is still in its early stages, this is a significant victory,” declared Thomas More Society Special Counsel Paul Jonna. “The San Diego Unified School District should promptly revise its policy to include religious exemptions for students.”
The same day, Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Matthew Schelp in St. Louis blocked a lunatic Biden Administration vaccine mandate for health care workers in 10 states — the same people who performed magnificently throughout the entire pandemic absent a vaccine. In a 32-page ruling, Schelp wrote, “Congress did not clearly authorize CMS (the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) to enact this politically and economically vast, federalism-altering, and boundary-pushing mandate, which Supreme Court precedent requires.”
In Monroe, Louisiana just one day later, Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty added the other 40 states to his injunction, delighting Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry. “We applaud the ruling and stand with last year’s heroes, who know what’s best for their healthcare workers (better) than the government bureaucrats,” Landry said.
Also on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove (a George W. Bush appointee), halted Biden’s vaccine mandate for federal contractors. The White House order would have deprived vaccine-refusing workers of government contracts on December 8. The attorneys general of Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee requested the injunction, which Van Tatenhove granted. “Can the president use congressionally delegated authority to manage the federal procurement of goods and services to impose vaccines on … federal contractors and subcontractors?” Van Tatenhove wrote. “The answer to that question is no.”
Significant as these sage judicial decisions are for the future freedom of our nation, they pale before what may result from last Wednesday’s oral arguments before the Supreme Court on the infamy that is abortion, and its hell gate opener, Roe v. Wade. In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Biden and the Democrats support invalidating a Mississippi law that bans unborn child murder after 15 weeks. And the only reason the law will probably stand — and the 1973 aberration perhaps fall, according to legal experts — is because of President Donald Trump.
Had Hillary Clinton won in 2016, the decision would be a death sentence for millions of unborn babies. Their now best chance to live lies in Trump’s three SCOTUS appointees — Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. And Wednesday they put the plaintiff lawyers through their paces. CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin tweeted, If you believe that women should have the right choose abortion, today’s Supreme Court argument was a wall-to-wall disaster. The Left realizes this, and they’ve been shrieking like demons inside the illusorily respectable Democratic power players they possess, even threatening the Court itself.
“If you want to see a revolution, go ahead, outlaw Roe v. Wade,” declared Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). “An adverse Supreme Court ruling will ignite a fire,” stated Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). “We have a Supreme Court with three Trump justices,” bemoaned Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI). “And he did say, ‘I’m going to nominate judges who will overturn Roe v. Wade.’” But first prize for classlessness and anti-comradery goes to a Supreme Court Justice herself, Sonia Sotomayor, who indicated the Court may not “survive the stench that this creates in the perception of the Constitution.”
Beyond the courts, there are further signs this Advent that America is once more moving into the light, such as in sports and literature. Turkish American Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter praised the country on Tucker Carlson. “People should feel really blessed to be in America. They love to criticize it but when you live in a country like Turkey, you appreciate the freedoms you have here. They should keep their mouths shut and stop criticizing the greatest nation in the world.” And Daily Wire star Matt Walsh’s new children’s book mocking the transgender lunacy, Johnny the Walrus, is selling out on Amazon. But if the Supreme Court decision comes anywhere close to where many pray it will, there will be tidings of great joy. And, who knows, Trump may come again.
