We Buy Any Car worker ‘bombarded woman with creepy messages’

A We Buy Any Car employee said he would give a customer a ‘better deal’ if she ‘made it worthwhile for him’ and met him on his day off.

Harley Gambetta, 26, was trying to sell her Citroen C1 to the used car buying service in West Sussex.

But when she asked for a quote, a ‘weird’ salesman started sending her ‘creepy’ messages, Harley told The Sun.

The company said the man has now been fired for gross misconduct after it investigated the claims.

The man, who is married, messaged Harley from his personal mobile on November 15 to ask if she wanted to meet on his day off.

He seemingly went on to ask for sexual favours when he wrote: ‘Can do you a better deal if you make it worthwhile for me?’

The worker was relentless – texting her over WhatsApp, SMS and calling her multiple times.

On top of the calls Harley knew were from him, she also had several calls from a private number. She said this went on for about three to four days.

Harley said: ‘I just dread to think what might have happened if I was naive enough to go back to meet him thinking I would get a better deal.

‘As a young woman it made me want to warn others about the behaviour of this guy because so much dreadful stuff goes on these days.’

We Buy Any Car told The Sun: ‘We do not condone the actions taken by him and these actions do not represent the rest of our team.

‘We wholeheartedly apologise to Ms Gambetta for her experience.’

Metro.co.uk has also contacted the company for comment.

It comes after model Charlotte Roffey, 27, went through a similar ordeal when an NHS Track and Trace worker messaged her to ask if he could save her number and whether she had a husband.

The man visited Charlotte’s home in Winchester, Hampshire, to check she was isolating last summer and then decided to text her.

She said at the time: ‘I think it’s appalling that he used his power in a completely inappropriate way and it made me concerned for any other woman in the same position.

‘I was alone and felt uncomfortable that he had access to all my details.’

The Department of Health and Social Care has since launched an investigation.
