Tom Holland & Henry Cavill Discuss Superhero Costumes In Funny Exchange
Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland and Superman actor Henry Cavill discuss superhero costumes in a hilarious new video. The actors have become two of the most well-known and beloved performers in the Marvel and DC worlds. Currently, Holland is gearing up for his next go-around as Peter Parker when No Way Home premieres later this month.
Henry Cavill and Tom Holland have both worn two of the most iconic outfits from their respective superhero movie universes. Tom Holland has worn numerous iterations of the Spider-Man outfit ever since he entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the premiere of Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Henry Cavill, on the other hand, has similarly worn numerous versions of the Superman outfit ever since he donned the cape with the premiere of Man of Steel in 2013.
Now, with Tom Holland and Zendaya embarking on the press tour for Spider-Man: No Way Home, new comments about his Spider-Man suit have begun to emerge. Specifically, the duo made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show alongside Henry Cavill, allowing Holland and Cavill a chance to discuss the zippers on their suits – resulting in a delightfully awkard exchange between the actors. From Marvel to DC, it seems like the question of a zipper is a significant point of concern for the actors who play these iconic superheroes. It is not specific to Spider-Man and Superman either, as Shazam! actor Zachary Levi recently came out and admitted that his suit for Shazam: Fury of the Gods still does not allow him to easily use the restroom when he is wearing it on the film’s set. Clearly, Holland’s suit presents a number of other issues as well, as he also admitted that he was forced to drink coffee through one of the eye holes as well, and it contains a number of batteries that can get hot during shooting.
Awkward moments aside, these discussions serve as a reminder of how much work goes into the movie magic of ensuring that these suits look as realistic as possible. The need for a zipper is a pervasive issue that almost all of these actors face when they step into superhero roles, but audiences almost never see these issues when the films are finished and projected onto the big screen. It is unclear if or when Cavill will play Superman again, but for now, audiences can catch Holland in his next superhero outing when Spider-Man: No Way Home premieres on December 17.
