The Avengers Sing Deck the Halls in MCU Christmas Edit
The Avengers sing the classic Christmas carol “Deck the Halls” in a clever edit of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Including the MCU’s conception with 2008’s Iron Man, Marvel Studios has produced and released 26 films and five shows on Disney+ so far. Of the cinematic outings, Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 is the only film to be concerned with the holiday season.
Black is best known for penning the script for Lethal Weapon and helming such films as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, and The Nice Guys - all of which occur over the holidays. Iron Man 3 sees Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) struggle with anxiety following the Battle of New York before coming into conflict with the supposed Ten Rings Organization and the Mandarin. As explained by Black, the film is framed amongst the backdrop of Christmas to represent a sense of “we are all in it together,” and references to the holiday in the film include a remix of “Jingle Bells” and a snow-covered town.
While Iron Man 3 may have touched upon the seasonal setting, the Hawkeye series is now fully leaning into the holiday spirit, and Marvel's marketing team seems to be following suit. The official Twitter account for Marvel UK and Ireland shares a video that brings a series of MCU characters together to sing “Deck the Halls” in what was clearly a very time-consuming edit. Judging by their faces, though, none of them knew their words would someday seem so jolly. Check it out below:

Hawkeye may mark the beginning of the MCU’s seasonal awareness. The series follows Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) in NYC two years after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Heavily influenced by Matt Fraction and David Aja’s comic My Life As A Weapon, Hawkeye introduces Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, a Hawkeye superfan who haphazardly dons Ronin’s costume and gets tangled up with the Tracksuit Mafia. Clint then has to help her defuse the situation in the hopes of getting home in time for Christmas.
Aided by the chemistry of its leads, the use of music, and its holiday-centric plot, Hawkeye feels like a Christmas classic akin to Die Hard and Home Alone. MCU aside, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige hopes Hawkeye becomes a holiday staple, and there’s no denying its status as a Christmas special. That being said, Marvel Studios will be dropping another holiday event via James Gunn’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in December 2022, and there's no reason to believe that trend won't continue moving forward.
