That’s A Rap #155: Debating podcast and roster makeovers
New season. New roster. New identity. The Raptors are longer, quicker, and ready to run. On this week’s episode, we discuss the winds of change and ask for your help in deciding an important one!
The time has arrived to carve out a new identity.
Not only is that statement relevant to the Toronto Raptors, but to this very podcast. For over three years, That’s A Rap has used a logo that was assembled quickly, yet rather effectively, by our very own co-host, Dre.
However, the time has come for a fresh new look.
That’s also true for this season’s Raptors squad, as it’s already shown the kind of pace (fast!) and personnel (Toronto 6-foot-9ers) Nick Nurse is going to employ.
From logo design to final roster spots, there was a lot to debate on the latest episode. Make sure to include your thoughts/comments below.

13:40 — Battle for 14 & 15
With Yuta Watanabe all but guaranteed to claim the 13th roster spot, the battle wages on for the 14th and (likely) 15th spots. Freddie Gillespie, Isaac Bonga, Reggie Perry, Ishmail Wainright, and Sam Dekker all had a few minutes of game time (in that order of most to least minutes) over the two pre-season games (this was recorded before the Celtics game).
33:50 — Locked up
The Canadian government is not screwing around. While unvaccinated Raptors opponents will be allowed to play at Scotiabank Arena (after submitting negative COVID-19 tests on game day), any break in health & safety protocols will result in heavy consequences. We’re talking hefty fines and up to six months in prison! In other words, they’re either getting locked up on the court (hello OG Anunoby and Scottie Barnes) or behind bars.
40:36 — Fraudulent behaviour
Speaking of fraudulent behaviour, 18 former NBA players, including 5 who’ve donned the Raptors uniform, were arrested and charged for defrauding the NBA’s Health and Welfare Benefit plan out of $4 million. That’s... not great news, Bob!
