Dodon: there will be more protests in Moldova
Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon, who participates in an opposition rally on Sunday, said that this is only the first action; there will be more protests in the future
The opposition bloc Communists and Socialists of Moldova holds a protest in downtown Chisinau on Sunday in defense of the arrested Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo and against the dictatorship of the authorities.
The protesters were joined by bloc leaders, former presidents Dodon and Vladimir Voronin. They refused to speak from the stage so that the rally would not be declared political; the opposition insists it is a people’s protest.
“Alexander Stoianoglo is accused on far-fetched grounds, we are fighting to build a state based on the rule of law and against the arbitrariness of the authorities, we are against the dictatorship of the authorities, these are the first steps to take over the state. I think that this is just the beginning of the protests, there will be more of them”, – Dodon said in a commentary to RIA Novosti.
According to him, the situation in the country is difficult, and it will continue to worsen.
The protesters share his position, they say that for the first time there is a prosecutor general in the republic, whom the people support. That is why people are ready to unite and continue protesting.
