Football Insider have reported that Tottenham Hotspur are submitting a new bid for Takehiro Tomiyasu this week.
The report claimed Spurs put their pursuit of the defender on hold while he represented his country at the Olympics this summer, however, that is now set to change as Japan were eliminated from the tournament this week.
Tottenham will now reportedly come back in for Tomiyasu with a fresh bid of around £17m, which is more than their last offer of £15.5m including add-ons.
Spurs are said to hope this improved bid will be enough to reach an agreement with Bologna, with Fabio Paratici having already agreed contract terms with Tomiyasu himself.
The report claimed Tomiyasu could slot into the right-back position in North London to replace Serge Aurier, or he could also play in the centre of defence.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I’m not sure Tomiyasu is well-rounded enough to play as a Premier League right-back, but he looks to be a useful utility defender to add to the squad as a whole. I suspect he will end up more as a central defender when Spurs finally sign a new dynamic right-back.
