On 13 July 2021, Member of the CEC of Russia Igor Borisov took part in a Round table organized by the Provisional Commission of the Federation Council for the Protection of State Sovereignty and the Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, chaired by Senator of the Russian Federation Andrey Klimov.
Tasks of the Interim Commission in terms of protecting state sovereignty, designated by the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation approved by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on 2 July 2021, were discussed.
Igor Borisov informed the participants of the Round table about the main directions of external interference in the electoral process and technologies of influencing the elections, noting that the key mechanism of such actions is the deception of voters, the distortion of political discourse: "A powerful stream of disinformation is directed from the outside to show the alleged dishonesty of the elections and shake the trust of citizens in the electoral system."
The Member of the CEC of Russia stressed that the country's electoral system is ready to ensure full implementation of political rights and freedoms of citizens of the Russian Federation.
"The task of countering external interference in elections is solved in the interaction of all branches of the unified system of public authority, through the joint work of legislators, representatives of the executive branch and general civil society, including at platform of the Temporary Commission," Igor Borisov said.
