Report: Tottenham have offer for Championship defender rejected
Birmingham City’s young defender Rico Browne has reportedly snubbed a contract offered to him by Tottenham Hotspur in order to stay at the Blues for another year (Football Insider).
The 17-year-old centre back reportedly had strong interest from two London clubs in the shape of West Ham United and Spurs.
The defender has opted to stay at Birmingham to see out the final season of his two-year scholarship.
However, Browne did turn down a professional contract offer from Birmingham to keep his options open for next summer.
The talented youngster is yet to be handed his professional debut but featured three times in the FA Youth Cup this season for Birmingham City U18s.
The Blues have reportedly told potential suitors that they require a fee of £1.5 million to lure him away despite not even having a professional contract.
Football Insider also reported in February that the defender was allowed to have a trial at West Ham.
