Second President Robert Kocharyan on Wednesday warned of real possibilities of a war threat as he sat down for an interview with several Armenian TV channels.
The former president addressed, in particular, the situation along Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan, noting that the recently reported incident close the military post of Yeraskh (Ararat region) “has consigned other events to oblivion”.
“We have kind of forgotten about the Black Lake, and the presence of numerous Azerbaijani soldiers. This the logical continuation of everything that is going on with Armenia - both during the war and in the post-war situation,” he added.
According to Kocharyan, Armenia’s week and “toothless” situation has now been exposed to the outside world, with the state not willing at all to give a worthy answer and Azerbaijan persistently intending to push ahead with its own agenda.
“This kind of provocations creates a kind of situation that makes the threat of war visible for people, and the people have to digest the signing of yet another document and the concession of a new territory. It will be perceived not just as treachery but rather salvation. It is a technology of a planned defeat,” he added.
