In the midst of unveiling upcoming Inazuman characters for Genshin Impact’s 2.1 update, Mihoyo has revealed Genshin Impact’s first-ever collab character: Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn. Acknowledged as a “Savior From Another World”, the Nora huntress seems to be a Cryo Character and will be the first character from another series to enter the Genshin Impact universe.
Aloy will be a 5-Star character available to players for free in the Genshin Impact 2.2 update. Aloy is the protagonist of the Playstation game Horizon Zero Dawn, and while it is currently unknown what role she’ll play in the Genshin Impact story, Mihoyo has revealed how players will be able to unlock her. Aloy will be the first free 5-Star in the game’s history, which means every player will get the chance to play her if they follow the right steps.
According to Mihoyo, the Aloy event will be divided into two phases. Phase I will occur right after the Version 2.1 update, during the update maintenance for 2.2. At the start of this new version, all players who log into Genshin Impact on their Playstation 4 or Playstation 5 will receive Aloy directly through their in-game mail. Now that Genshin Impact has enabled cross-save play with the Playstation 4 thanks to the 2.0 Update, any player with a Playstation can access Aloy through this first phase.
Players without a Playstation will still be able to get Aloy for free during Phase II of the event. After the end of the Version 2.2 update, during the maintenance of Version 2.3, all players who log into Genshin Impact on any platform will receive Aloy directly through their in-game mail as well. This means no Travelers will have to miss out on this new collab character!
It’s important to note that players must be at least Adventure Rank 20 to claim this reward. However, there are no other requirements besides that. Further details about Aloy’s abilities, possible story quests, or related content have not yet been revealed, but more information will likely come as Version 2.2 approaches. As the first collaboration character in the game so far, it’s great news that every player will get a chance to unlock her. Plus, since she’s free, players will still be able to save their Primogems for the new upcoming Inazuma characters like Kokomi, Sara, and Baal.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Mobile.
