Fabrizio Romano delivers update on two rumoured Spurs targets
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the futures of two rumoured Tottenham targets, Lorenzo Insigne and Andrea Belotti, in the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast.
Insigne has been a consistent performer for both Napoli and Italy over the best part of the last decade and demonstrated his quality once again in the European Championships, being one of the Azzurri’s most effective attacking threats on their route to the trophy.
Corriere dello Sport reported two weeks ago that the 30-year-old, who has just 12 months left on his contract, was in a contract standoff with Napoli and that Spurs could take advantage of the situation and snap him up.
Meanwhile, Tottenham reportedly had an offer of around €50m (£46.3m) rejected by Torino for Belotti last summer and the North Londoners have been backed to make another attempt to sign the experienced striker this summer (La Stampa via TuttoMercatoWeb).
Romano has now revealed that neither player’s contract situation has been resolved by their respective clubs and that there could be some development over Insgine’s and Belott’s futures over the coming days.
He said (as transcribed by TBR Football): “Belotti and Insigne are out of contract in one year. Negotiations over a new contract with Torino and Napoli are not advanced yet. They were waiting for the Euros. We will see what happens, keep an eye on Belotti and Insigne.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It would not come as a surprise if Spurs are following both players since they could be available for cut-price deals.
However, I would not expect us to sign Insigne since he is at his best cutting in from the left, a position which Son Heung-min occupies for the Lilywhites.
I have been a big fan of Belotti for several years and believe that the 27-year-old would make an excellent backup to Kane. However, it remains to be seen if the Torino star would be willing to come to Spurs knowing he will play second fiddle to the England captain.
