Let’s wrap up the draft and get these kids signed!
The 2021 MLB draft concludes today with rounds 11-20, with coverage streamed live on MLB.com.
Here are some of the top names still available:
He is a first-round talent that at this point is almost certainly headed to Clemson to play baseball and football. It will be interesting to see if he develops power to go along with his 70-grade speed.
He has withdrawn from the draft and will be attending Arkansas, where he’ll play alongside Dayton Moore’s son Robert.
Undersized at 5’11’, but throws a low-90s fastball that some had at 95 mph this spring, with a plus curve. Worked out for the Padres and is committed to UCLA.
Standing 6’4’’, throws in the upper 90s and has even hit triple digits on the radar gun. He can throw a curveball and slider with encouraging results, and is working on a change up. Has some command issues and could be headed to Tennessee.
Two-way player who scouts prefer on the mound. Got his fastball up to the mid-90s this year, and some project his curveball could become plus. Likely needs some refinement, which he could get at Florida State.
Among the top college players available:
Reliever converted to starting this year for the Bulldogs, posting a 3.98 ERA with 57 strikeouts and 13 walks in 63 1⁄3 innings. Has a deep arsenal with a 93 mph fastball with sinking action, a curve, slider, and change.
Right-handed bat with some pop who hit .231/.310/.476 with 15 HR in 56 games with the Wolfpack. Has a lot of swing and miss to his game with some defensive concerns, but with a strong arm. Cousin of former Yankees infielder Tom Tresh.
Good raw power hitter who hit .305/.361/.581 with 13 HR and 12 steals in 59 games, but hardly ever walks, with a lot of strikeouts. Profiles as a corner outfielder.
Huge kid at 6’5’’, 250 pounds with a high-90s fastball, a plus breaking ball, and a split-change. Committed to Georgia.
Throws 92-95 mph with a curve, slider, and a fringy changeup. Didn’t have much success on the field this year with a 6.14 ERA, but with 83 strikeouts and 30 walks in 73 1/3 innings
