Tottenham Hotspur are one of four Premier League clubs who are interested in Schalke striker Matthew Hoppe, according to the German outlet of Goal.
The USA international scored six goals in 22 Bundesliga games last season but was unable to help his side avoid relegation after they finished bottom of the table with just sixteen points to their name.
Following their relegation, Schalke are reported to be ready to allow the 20-year-old leave for a £4million fee.
Newcastle, Southampton and Wolves are said to be the other English clubs who are keen to bolster their front line with the addition of the Californian.
Hoppe became the first American in Bundesliga history to score a hat-trick in January, on what was only his fifth league start in a 4-0 win against Hoffenheim.

Hoppe is certainly a talent for the future and at £4million could be a shrewd investment, but is not ready to act as an understudy for Harry Kane and Heung-min Son to help shoulder the responsibility of finding the back of the net.
Spurs already have Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott who are highly-regarded at the club, the arrival of Hoppe would only likely stunt their progress.
