Joe Amabile, the affable first-round boot from Becca Kufrin's season, has revealed recent hints about the upcoming Bachelor In Paradise that indicate the seventh iteration of the spin-off could be the wildest yet. Some of these changes — such as the rotating cast of celebrity hosts to replace the recently departed Chris Harrison — are already known. But are there more secrets the audience is not yet privy to that Joe recently alluded to?
There has never been a contestant quite like Joe, who rose to fame after an extremely abbreviated stint on his first appearance on the show. His popularity among Bachelor Nation earned him a spot on the fifth season of Bachelor In Paradise, where he met Kendall Long. He rode his Bachelor fame to season 27 of Dancing With the Stars. On January 2020, Joe and Kendall announced they had broken up, but the 34-year-old grocery store owner hasn't given up on his quest for love. There was no Paradise last year due to the pandemic, giving the cast of season 7 much more potential contestants to date.
On Thursday's episode of the Click Bait podcast (via Us Weekly), Joe told cohosts Tayshia Adams and Natasha Parker of his experience, “It was a lot different than my first time. It was wild.” Joe was able to dish on the season since the cast had just been officially released by ABC, teasing some of the fan favorites who will comprise the cast. One of the reasons it was different was the hosts that took over during this past season, which wrapped filming not long ago.
Joe teased that season 7 will involve “a lot of unexpected happenings." Though that is typical of a season of Bachelor In Paradise, as the entrances are usually timed perfectly to stir up the maximum amount of drama and intrigue, the assortment of hosts coupled with a cast that has likely been in contact long before the show started filming should create plenty of compelling narratives.
Whether "different" ultimately means "better" remains to be seen. The most recent season of Paradise in 2019 showed glimpses of the future of the popular summer spin-off, where an unfilmed meet-up at Stagecoach months prior set the stage for the drama that would unfold in front of the cameras. While the coronavirus limited the amount of face-to-face contact contestants could have had before stepping foot in Mexico, there were no doubt countless relationships already formed before the season started filming. When Tayshia remarked on the podcast to Joe and fellow season 7 contestant Natasha, “I told you it was a dumpster fire out there,” she may have been right.
Bachelor In Paradise premieres August 16 on ABC.
