DraftKings stock jumps after MLB relationship expanded to include free live games on DraftKings app
Shares of DraftKings Inc. spiked up 2.3% in afternoon trading Friday, after the gaming company announced an expanded relationship with Major League Baseball, to include the streaming of live games. Just prior to the announcement of the expanded relationship, the stock was up just 0.9%. As part of the expanded relationship are rights to "Bet & Watch" feature, in which those with open and active MLB.com and DraftKings accounts will be able to watch live MLB games within the DraftKings app for free. DraftKings and MLB also plan to collaborate on future sports betting-themed broadcast features that will be part of the MLB.TV product. "As we adapt and scale integrations within the constantly evolving sports landscape, MLB and DraftKings will again shape the future of fan engagement in baseball and beyond," said Matt Kalish, co-founder of DraftKings. The stock has gained 6.1% year to date, while the S&P 500 has advanced 16.1%.
