July 9 – Fans of Scottish Premiership side Motherwell have raised £60,000 to buy season tickets for unemployed and low-income families this season, with the club matching that figure.
The scheme was launched in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis. In May, reports suggested that unemployment in North Lanarkshire rose by 71% because of the global health crisis. In response to the fundraising by fans, the club said it would match the final figure.
