A new League of Legends cinematic trailer acts as an epic and exciting lead-in to the game's upcoming Sentinels of Light crossover event.
A brand-new League of Legends cinematic trailer leads into the game's new "Rise of the Sentinels" narrative adventure. The online battle arena game launched back in 2009, and since then developer Riot Games has continued to support the game with post-launch content. The game's roster of over 140 playable champions is ever-expanding, to now include Akshan, and new events continue to add to the title's storyline.
League of Legends' newest event is Sentinels of Light, which acts as a crossover with other Riot Games titles such as card collection title Legends of Runeterra and first-person shooter VALORANT. Players of all five crossover titles will be able to earn special event-specific rewards by participating in the event within each game. League of Legends players will have the opportunity to purchase numerous new skins, and a new game mode will be made available for players to experience. The lynchpin of the Sentinels of Light event is Akshan, a new champion that will be coming to League of Legends after being previously released in Legends of Runeterra and Teamfight Tactics.
A new cinematic trailer, titled Before Dawn, has been released by League of Legends to lead into the Sentinels of Light event. The exciting cinematic trailer shows the Ruination, an apocalyptic invasion that threatens the world of Runeterra, spreading across the land. A band of champions stands against the onslaught, but time will tell whether the spread of the Ruination can be stopped during the course of the Sentinels of Light event.
While Sentinels of Light is bringing massive additions and crossovers to the world of League of Legends, Riot Games also works to maintain the title's roster of older heroes. Frequent reworks and updates serve to ensure that older heroes are not rendered obsolete due to the release of newer and stronger characters. The developer recently revealed an upcoming rework for Udyr, a shapeshifting warrior who was added to the game in December 2009. While the superhuman shaman is still powerful, his design has grown a bit dated since his addition to the game. The upcoming Visual and Gameplay Update will make Udyr's gameplay more dynamic and exciting while also expanding his design and personality.
League of Legends' frequent updates has ensured that the game never grows stagnant. While gameplay additions are essential, the expansion of the game's lore has also allowed Riot Games to construct an epic and intimate narrative. Sentinels of Light will not only act as a crossover between the developer's various projects, but it will also push the League of Legends story forward.
League of Legends' Rise of the Sentinels will run from July 8 to August 10.
