The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 25th June) - Danjuma backtracks on come and get me plea to Leeds

Good Morning. It's Friday 25th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Danjuma's backtracks on come and get me plea

Bournemouth's Arnaut Danjuma has issued a come and get me plea to Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta. The Nigerian born attacking midfielder grew up in Holland, and has represented the Dutch at senior level twice. He joined the South Coast team in the Summer of 2019 from Club Brugge for £13.7m though found life tough in his first season in the top flight. It's fair to say that Danjuma found his form last term. He netted 17 times, and was credited with 7 assists in 31 starts. Speaking to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, Danjuma was quoted as saying...

Leeds is a bigger institution than Bournemouth, has a very nice history and they play Premier League. And I don't think I can play another Championship season, I've outgrown the competition a bit. Leeds United would be a nice step.

For some reason the Cherries did not take kindly to his comments, so the 24 year old took to social media to explain his comments...

Nandez display in Copa America delights Leeds fans

Rumoured Leeds target Nahitan Nandez produced an exceptional display in helping Uruguay overcome Bolivia, and book their place in the quarter-finals of Copa America last night. He won 10/14 ground duels had a 87% pass accuracy with 34 passes and completed 5/6 dribbles. His quality and work rate is exactly why Bielsa is understood to have made the 25 year old his top target this Summer. Nandez is a hard-working midfielder who is prepared to out defensively. He has an impressive engine and is well suited to Marcelo Bielsa’s pressing game. The Uruguayan international seems like the ideal partner for Kalvin Phillips on paper, and the duo could form a quality partnership at the heart of Bielsa’s midfield.

Having heard that Roma and Inter Milan have cooled their interest in the box to box midfielder, there is only one thing that is standing in Leeds way - a £31m release clause. Should Leeds meet the release fee, the Uruguayan midfielder would be a club record signing. The reported release clause might seem steep, but Nandez has the quality to justify the asking price over the next few seasons. Nandez is yet to reach his peak, and working with a top-class coach like Bielsa could help him improve. The 25 year old is currently away on international duty with Uruguay, and his future is unlikely to be sorted before Copa America ends.

Would you be happy for Leeds to break the bank to land Nandez?
