Fans now have a closer look at the rag-tag heroes of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, thanks to some newly-released promotional posters. Square Enix put its take on the popular comic book team front and center during last week’s E3 showcase with a lengthy segment on Guardians Of The Galaxy’s gameplay and 80’s rock-infused aesthetic.
Players will step into the stylish jacket of Peter "Star-Lord" Quill, using his trusty blasters and rocket boots to shoot down Jello monsters and lead his dysfunctional team of mercs on a quest to save the Marvel universe. Every choice Peter makes throughout Guardians Of The Galaxy will shape his relationships with his crew and the narrative at large, and while the game won't be featuring multiplayer, Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal have promised plenty of fun and excitement in its newest superhero adventure.
According to Flickering Myth, Square Enix has just released a series of Guardians Of The Galaxy promotional posters showing off the game’s versions of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot in close-up detail. Each hero is presented in front of a vibrant purple background with space hieroglyphs above them, with the game’s tagline of “You Got This. Probably” and its planned October 26 release date on the bottom. Check out Square Enix’s line of Guardians Of The Galaxy posters below.
Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy has already generated considerable hype in the week since its official unveiling at E3, with even noted MCU director James Gunn expressing excitement for the video game version of the heroes he helped bring into the mainstream. Helping with this goodwill is the promise that Guardians Of The Galaxy won’t include microtransactions, which were a serious source of annoyance in Square’s last Marvel outing, 2020’s Marvel’s Avengers. However, fans hoping for a shared Marvel gaming universe on par with the ubiquitous Marvel Cinematic Universe might be in for a disappointment, as the game will be set in its own separate continuity.
Still, the new Guardians Of The Galaxy posters Square Enix has just released are simple but effective, showing off the game’s version of each hero while maintaining the psychedelic, gonzo sci-fi feel that the franchise is known for. Players will only have to wait a few more months to see this rough-and-tumble crew of heroes for hire in action, as Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy is set to blast off across all major gaming platforms on October 26.
