Emmy Award-winning actress Annie Murphy leads AMC's new dark comedy, Kevin Can F**k Himself, alongside a cast of familiar faces. The series, created by Valerie Armstrong, stars Murphy as displeased sitcom wife who does everything in her power to redefine her life. In WandaVision-like fashion, Kevin Can F**K Himself flips back and forth between a classic sitcom setting and a darkened dramatic tone out of view from the multi-camera setup.
As a riff on Kevin James' Kevin Can Wait and the treatment of female characters in sitcoms, Kevin Can F**k Himself centers on a married couple, Allison and Kevin, living in the Boston area. The wife is constantly forced to put her hopes and dreams aside as she caters to her stereotypical schlubby husband's every need. However, the series flips the script by giving Allison a way to break from the traditional convention by realizing how much this life is pulling her down. The situation becomes so grueling that Allison feels like she needs a way out and fast.
Like classic sitcoms, the main characters are given a supporting cast who tends to pop in and out of the plot. In addition, the use of single-camera sequences allows Allison to travel out of the sitcom environment to travel around town. That said, here's a character guide for Kevin Can F**K Himself, and where viewers would know the actors from.
Annie Murphy stars as Kevin Can F**K Himself's lead character, Allison McRoberts. Allison is sick of all aspects of her life, including her small house and job in a local liquor store. More importantly, she can no longer take her husband's antics, forcing her to question her future. Murphy, of course, is best known for her award-winning role as Alexis Rose in Schitt's Creek.
Eric Petersen plays Kevin McRoberts, Allison's immature husband who doesn't notice how unhappy his wife truly is. He cares more about getting into shenanigans with his father and friends instead of taking anything Allison says seriously. Aside from appearances in The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family, Petersen's most prominent roles came on Broadway, including Shrek the Musical and Escape to Margaritaville.
Mary Hollis Inboden portrays Patty in Kevin Can F**k Himself. Patty is the neighbor of Allison and Kevin, who often sides with the latter in arguments. She also works at a local salon but has a secret side business. Inboden has previously worked on series like Shrill, The Righteous Gemstones, Superstore, and The Real O'Neals.
Alex Bonifer rounds out the main cast as Neil, Patty's manchild brother and the best friend of Kevin, who also happens to live next door, much to the dismay of Allison. Like Kevin, Neil is very childish and doesn't value Allison. Bonifer recently appeared in a multi-episode arc on Superstore as Russell.
Raymond Lee as Sam: Allison's ex, who recently moved back to Worcester to open a diner. Lee recently appeared in Made for Love, Here and Now, and Mozart in the Jungle. He will soon appear in the long-awaited sequel, Top Gun: Maverick.
Meghan Leathers as Jenn: Sam's uptight wife. Leathers recently played Pam Horton in Apple TV+'s For All Mankind.
Brian Howe as Pete McRoberts: Kevin's father and Allison's father-in-law. Howe would be known for his work in Chicago Fire, Vice Principals, Westworld, Justified, and The Pursuit of Happyness.
Candice Coke as Officer Tammy: A local detective that has her suspicions about Patty. Coke had previous roles in Indemnity, Proven Innocent, La La Land, Bones, and Days of Our Lives.
